This foam is very resilient. As the description says, it shrinks slightly but can return to its normal shape immediately. It is closed cell so no air can get through. I used it to replace an air damper on top of the AC condenser coils. After 30 years, the original foam has completely dissolved! The first photo shows my old AC air damper. You can see the plastic frame and the last bits of styrofoam on it. In the second photo is my "converted" air damper. I needed 3 inches of height. So I wrapped a strip of styrofoam around the top of the plastic frame, another underneath, and then added a third layer from the bottom. The glue is very good, sticks without problems. As you can see the foam is so flexible that it can be bent 90 degrees without cutting. That was great! I had to buy two packs of these foam strips for this specific job but I am very happy with the result.
