Mom used a boar bristle brush in the 70's. This is a great modern replacement. The bristles are soft but hard enough for cleaning. I'm not worried about fabric wear. The size and texture of the block make it very easy to hold. My hands are a bit arthritic and never tire of rubbing the sleeves and pockets of my 4 winter coats, but I'm sweating. I have only used them once so far but would give them away as adult stockings.
