I was able to change the watch straps fairly easily and the straps came with the appropriate screwdrivers needed to change the straps (oddly you need both sets as they both appear to be star shaped / turning screws and quite small (no, you can't just use tiny screwdrivers) - the strap has a more rubbery feel than the original Garmin straps and they feel a bit smaller - I think I noticed that as I tend to use my watch looser to wear than probably most other people.
