A common theme of bumper protectors is the phrase "watch out for the power liftgate". If the rubber is too thick or too wide, it can prevent the tailgate from closing and cause additional wear on the tailgate motor. I've read reviews of those who cut the guard to make room on the tailgate but luckily I didn't need it. I think closing the tailgate during installation helps. This way you can see exactly how much clearance the door needs and align the bumper guard to avoid this. After our installation, there is no contact between the tailgate and the protective cover. The rubber flexes slightly to give you a factory look. And we had a lot of 3M double sided tape (2 rolls) to keep it tight. To be honest I couldn't be happier with it - it's good quality and a great price. Also, it protects the bumper from scuffs and scuffs. Time will tell how the weather will hold up, but so far so good!
