Well built but too big for my height

I am a small 5ft and unfortunately this mini backpack is too big. In order for me to wear it comfortably, I have to tighten almost all the adjustments. As a result, the buckles of the shoulder straps are in the front of the armpit - very, very uncomfortable. In addition, the vest seems to be very well made. I gave it to a taller friend (5ft 7in) and she doesn't have a problem with the size.
