I would recommend XL
I wore this dress to work for the gala and got so many compliments. I wear size 12 and ordered a large. The size approached, the material stretched a little. If you are between size 12/14 I would recommend buying XL. The length was perfect, I'm 5'0 and the dress ended maybe an inch below the knee. I would definitely buy again in a different color.
