Review on πŸ“Ί Coby TFDVD7009 7-Inch Portable DVD/CD/MP3 Player, Black: Entertainment On-The-Go at Its Best! by Alan Massey

Unhappy with performance

The player was well packaged thanks to Revain and shipped quickly. The DVD player comes with headphones, a remote control and an adapter. The device can play DVDs and CDs as well as ripped CDs/DVDs with ease. The reason why I am dissatisfied with the device is that the performance is sometimes lacking. If the DVD/CD was in good condition, there were no problems with the player. However, if the CD/DVD was scratched, the player seemed difficult to use and would skip/pause playback on the CD/DVD accordingly. It looked like the buffer was running out and the player had to pause playback. DVD (or just stop outputting music to CD) until the buffer fills up again, then continue. I've tried many DVDs, the last one I tried was a copy of The Fountain. I've also tried many CDs including Elephant The White Stripes. I think maybe it was just an issue with my device as others haven't reported this issue. However, I was not satisfied with his work and sent it back. It should be noted that I have a much older Coby machine that plays all my DVDs and CDs perfectly, so I wouldn't say this brand is bad. For some reason this model, or maybe the device I was specifically given, wasn't able to buffer well. Sound quality was satisfactory, it's obvious you're missing out on a lot of bass with such tiny speakers, and even conversations don't seem to have depth in their sound. The screen had decent viewing angles, enough for three people to sit in front of the device and enjoy a movie.

Pros
  • Compact, portable design with anti-skip circuitry, Dolby Digital decoding
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
