Safe for babies and toddlers, especially at this age when everything goes in their mouths. The balls are a good size to pick up but big enough that you don't have to worry about them being potted. I bought it for my granddaughter who is 11 months old and is learning to walk. This is a safe place to play. I love the fact that it can be installed anywhere in the house or garden. I originally ordered 100 balls but they got lost in the ball pit. I just received 3 more sets of balls. They are stored in mesh pockets and are ideal for use anywhere. With the extra balls, she can use them in her pool this summer.
