I needed this unusual 2.5 cup size to ensure my dog's prescription kibble was measured correctly. That requirement is fine, but I'm afraid the pen won't stand the test of time (the first one I actually got broke and was then replaced); There is a subtle feel to the way the handle connects to the main cup. While I don't use this to measure liquids, I think it would be a nice benefit that it's 2.5 cups instead of the usual 2 cup size: this means measuring 2 cups of liquid wouldn't be full and would spill over the edge!
