I started with the manual version as it was cheaper and I was skeptical after reading all the reviews. I figured if it could help even just 3-4 films that would otherwise just need to be replaced then it was worth it, it worked great once I learned how to use it and I'm a little bit of those instructions deviated. I decided to invest in this one because we have more or less a few hundred children's films. This one is even better because I have my hands free to keep it working while I spray to keep it moist. The wetter the better! That's where I veered, they say "spray lightly, then let it do 2 turns, then take it out and rub it and then buff it." I started experimenting with a few rims that I knew did they could no longer be repaired because the back of the rims were scratched as badly as the front. I don't like how little spray they contain, but any spray designed to clean eyeglasses (one that's safe for plastic lenses) will work just as well. If it dries a bit the wheel will cloud up when sanding, if it stays really wet it works great! I spray generously before starting and then continue spraying up as it goes back down. I don't wait for it to do 2 evolutions before spraying again, I usually release it this way 3-4 times depending on how scratched it is. Then I clean and polish as described and if more is needed I'll do it again. Whatever you do, don't skimp on the spray! It's better to use more than you need than too little. Finally I polish it with a very small amount of liquid wax. Just a drop on a rag for the entire disk (This step is optional, I personally like it). I went ahead and invested in a power cord as I'm not interested in keeping up with batteries. They are available on Amazon for $5-8 or so. Definitely worth getting if like me you plan on using it a lot. I moved the wheel and stuff from my other SkipDr to this one, to save the new one for the extra. No, these aren't something you can use if you're looking to sell discs as they leave faint marks, but they're great for personal use, especially if you have kids. who are only now getting old enough to understand how to properly care for their intervertebral discs. I've upgraded everything I've used it on that could be salvaged. Most of them are now working smoothly. A small number will still bounce or stop at a spot or 2 for a second or so and then move on. These were drives that either just got stuck and froze or had to be jumped way ahead so they could continue working sooner. So you're significantly improved! Both have already paid off 2-3 times at the moment! For us, for our children's films, it was definitely worth it! Wheels also last longer than they're supposed to last, if you keep the rim really wet take the wheel off and gently wash it every time I've noticed. I've used it in 36 movies so far and I'm still using the SkipDr handlebars which is the first time I ridden on this model. I haven't used it for anything other than children's DVDs so I can't comment on how good it is for games or blur or anything as these items have always been out of the reach of children so all are in great condition.
