Review on X-Sense SD01 10-Year Battery Smoke Detector with Escape Light - UL 217 Compliant (Not Hardwired) by David Lusk

Bought because it has a 10 year battery and the LED seemed like a good idea. The device is packed in a very nice box that is easy to open. The ceiling clamp comes with 3 screws and drywall anchors for mounting. To install the clip, hold it up to the ceiling and mark three screw holes with a marker or pen. Then drill pilot holes slightly smaller than the drywall anchors. Insert the drywall anchors into the ceiling, then screw the bracket to the ceiling with wood screws. Tighten the screws until you see them pulling the bracket towards the ceiling - don't overdo it. The smoke detector is firmly attached to the clip and is also activated by lifting it, including the battery. Pressing the test button turns the LED on for a few seconds so you can see how well it's working in the dark. It's not blindingly bright, but it lights up my daughter's room enough that she can see all the obstacles on the floor in the dark. The alarm clock is loud, of course, like everyone else. Glad I have this one with a backlight, seems like a great idea that others should add as well.
