Already 2 years old

I was very disappointed to find that this product is already 2 years into its 5 year shelf life. The surviving 1I was manufactured in July 2016 and will be phased out in June 2021. They are marketed with a 5 year shelf life but I only get 3 years off of it.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Crumpled

Misadvertising Essentials

This diet contains trans fats, which are harmful to your circulatory system. And even one bar contains significantly more than the daily dose, which should be 2 grams for adults. But the picture of his "Nutrition Facts" on Revane's page wasn't exactly pointing to that part.

No vacuum seal = Unusable product

I ordered this in February and received it in June. Unfortunately, there was no vacuum seal, rendering this product unusable for its intended use. I have the same 10 year old vacuum packed SOS rations so I'm not happy at all. There was no way to replace either. Now that the price has increased significantly, I'm even more dissatisfied. So be careful when returning SOS Food Labs, Inc. without good vacuum packaging.

3 of them were bad. I returned them

A third (4 out of 13 I received) were not properly sealed. The holes in the packaging let air through, so the advertised expiration date is questionable. First I bought 10 of them, 3 of which were bad. I returned them. It's very simple, thank you Revane. And I get three more backs, one of which isn't properly sealed and vacuumed. The failure rate is unacceptably high and I would not trust this product (which is its intended use) in a life or death situation.

Calories for emergency supplies

Took her on a long haul ride. They taste like slightly bland peanut butter cookies. They have been found to be a great way to cut calories when energy is low. They also make you extremely thirsty, which also promotes hydration. As an experiment, I bought a few more, cut them into smaller pieces and covered them in chocolate. Excellent. Packaging: Pack of 9 individually wrapped bars. Each bar is wrapped in thin cellophane but not sealed. In other words, after opening a large pack, all bars…

which compares very well to some similar products I've seen

Ordered two and one arrived with a broken seal apparently shortening expected shelf life. Plan to contact the seller for a replacement and don't want to open it in case they want to return the item for an exchange or similar. . The manufacture date and expiration date are clearly stated on the packaging which compares very nicely to some similar products I've seen. Measures approximately 4.5 x 4.875 x 2 inches when properly closed. Should be perfect for truck storage and emergency bag…

Good product but misleading information

I bought these from Revain for only $10 because I wanted to test them for my emergency supply. Before we start, there is one thing that confuses me a little, so I want to make sure you all get it. This is advertised as a "three-day supply," but the pack only contains 3,600 calories. So when you consider that the average person eats 2,000 calories a day or more, you're far more likely to get a better idea of how it's going to take you. Yes, we'll probably tighten our belts during a disaster, but

Long Term Survival Bars

Conclusion: These bars are very tasty and good for their purpose - short term sedentary survival situations. They are not suitable for long-term or more active survival situations. The low price makes this a great buy. With this product you need to know what you are buying. That's 3600 calories for the whole pack. And it's mostly sugar. It says 3 days/72 hours. There are 9 bars, that is 3 bars per day for 1200 calories per day. In that sense, these are true survival bars - they're designed to…
