After reading the negative reviews (let's not all read the negative reviews first) I decided to give it a try anyway. The secret is to use it like a saw. Push it down a little and you'll see the rest of the way. You can rotate the device or rotate the apple, but it works great. I've even used it on steak tomatoes that had a hard stalk and it still worked great.
