I have an arthritic index finger that hurts a lot when moved in the wrong way. This finger sleeve helps stabilize your finger and prevent pain. Not only that, I can leave it on while washing my hands. Although cat hair will stick to it when you pet it, it's also easy to wash off. I leave it on while I sleep which prevents the joint from moving, but my finger is a bit swollen and the new fingertips might feel too tight so I'll just take it off for a while. This was a very helpful product to live with arthritis in fingers.
