I used to buy these clips from different companies and they never smelled like that. They release some terribly cheap chemicals. Maybe some that are not approved for use in most countries. A few minutes after opening the package, the smell gave me a headache. I can be a bit sensitive to smells but even my husband could smell them. I'm throwing them in the trash can tonight! I know this is an odd criticism, but for those of us with sensitive noses, there's no point in buying something that just makes you nauseous or a headache.
