This is an excellent compass for scouting, orienteering and hiking. Above average accuracy (tested with my Garmin GPS and military compass). Well Done; All straight edges are smooth (no nicks or dents), the pointer moves smoothly, and the bezel rotates smoothly (no obvious clicks). to the central arrow) are phosphorescent - I shined a flashlight on the compass and in a darkened room the points are very bright; All five navigation points are clearly visible in the dark. A red ribbon is attached to the compass. Has a magnifying glass (again plastic but works great). The bezel is 1/4" high; large serrated edge for better grip. The inner circle shows the grid in degrees for the west and east declination (each 60 degrees). Suitable for maps in scale 1:15000 and 1:25000. The only "downside" is that it's clear plastic, so expect lots of scratches from use, sand, grit, drops, bumps in your backpack or pocket, this compass will cover lots of scratches, but if you use it carry in a pocket maybe a thin sock or even a shirt pocket with nothing else in it this compass will last a long time!great buy great price show my new boy scout grandson how to use it.
