HBN makes some great lighting products. I have switches, string lights and strip lights and they are all great quality.These HBN Incandescent String Lights are similar to ones I bought from Target last year only better. The wire seems to be a slightly heavier gauge and bulb sockets a bit sturdier.This incandescent string light set is NOT smart! There are no apps to turn the lights on or off or dim the set. These lights are old style. You plug them into an AC outlet to turn them on, unplug them to turn them off. Of course the bulbs can be made smart with the addition of a SMART dimmer switch to make it controllable from a mobile device, but that needs to be purchased separately. Revain has many available including ones made specifically for outdoor use.The bulbs do not ship installed in the light set, and it is recommended to hang the string first before installing the bulbs to prevent possible breakage of the fragile bulbs. Each socket has a clip so the set can be attached with hooks or hung on a wire. Once the set is put up, the bulbs may be installed. Don't handle the bulbs with bare hands when doing so, use gloves to prevent oils from the hands from getting on the bulbs which shorten their lifespan. HBN provides 2 spare bulbs for the future. Keep in mind these bulbs are incandescent, NOT LED. They generate a fair amount of heat. Don't put these bulbs near combustible materials.These clear bulbs provide enough light for ambient lighting but not really enough for direct lighting. Each bulb is only 5 watts. They are great for porches, patios, lawns, etc. The set is UL listed for use indoors and out and have a waterproof rating of IP44. The G40 bulbs can easily be found online if replacement is necessary, and unlike some Christmas lights, if one bulb goes out the entire string will still remain lit so it is easy to identify a bad bulb. These HBN Incandescent String Lights are a great set if you are looking for some nice old school style lighting.
