Everything's relative. My first remote control car came with a three D-cells battery holder / controller you held in your hand with a wire that ran from it to the car. The car never went faster than I could run for obvious reasons. Life moved on. Many years later I get to play with this one and I'm finding it great fun. It moves fast; it really can do donuts, and speed control, reversing and steering are all easy. The only discrepancy I find between the product description and my experience is that it's not great in my neighbor's well kept grass lawn. It's not high enough to overcome the lifting effect of dense, well maintained, recently cut grass. I've attached a video of the car racing (in its higher speed mode) across my 150 foot cul de sac. You can see two things here: 1) It can really move and 2) it can survive a head-on into a 6" concrete curb at full speed and come away without any harm done. (It's challenging shooting a handheld video and controlling a fast car.) So off-roading may be a little more limited than you might expect, except on terrain that has low density vegetation. Also, the tires are pneumatic. That's great for traction and general shock absorption (in addition to the decent shocks) but I wonder how long these tires will last if the car is run on a paved surface. As long as replacements are available I guess it's not too much of an issue. Would I get it again? Yes, for its current price I can put up with the shortcomings noted. It is great fun.
