Very good build quality. The scanner comes with absolutely no instructions. There is a HE3D assembly video on YouTube. When creating, I would be sure to line up the screws with the end of the rods to allow for some accuracy. Setting up a laser can be difficult. I place the laser with the arrowhead on the label over the hole in the red bracket. I am using Mac (SierraOS). If you find the Horus wiki (bq) and find that the FTDI drivers don't work, google the USB-CH34 drivers. If you are using Sierra, use the modified CH34x)_Install_V1 driver (the official driver causes a kernel panic). The updated version doesn't have this, and that's why Horus works on my Mac. Setting it up is NOT easy. Proper lighting, position etc is a work in progress and I haven't had a good scan yet. I would say to get the thinnest parallel laser you would have to rotate the optic until it is the thinnest on the board, you may find that it is not vertical. I would physically rotate the laser until the line is as thin as possible and then fine tune the optics. Work in progress but good quality parts. Update: It's very difficult to scan with both lasers, so I suggest you use one or the other. Although I've read that it doesn't matter if the lasers are aligned with the center of the bed, I suggest you give it a try if you want to use both lasers. Success depends on the lighting and how you calibrate the device. This is NOT plug and play and even if you get a decent .ply you need to know how to use Mashlab. NOTE, calculate the normals and shielded position.
