You can easily lose battery if you don't hear the pump.
This float switch is the same as any other West Marine just cheaper. I haven't had any issues with this unit EXCEPT for the occasional bit of dirt getting in and it getting stuck in the on position. Luckily that happened in port and the batteries are connected to the charger, but if it happened while sailing it's easy to lose the battery if you can't hear the pump running. Otherwise it does what it is advertised to do. and I can't complain too much about it. What I might really need to do is clean the crap out of my hold a little more thoroughly!
