These strips can block the mic on some iMac models (2017 27" 5K in my case). NOTE: Other brands also block the mic hole so I had to redo mine with these strips. I originally did Bought a set of temp sensor adapter cable and strips and an opening tool from another company.I installed the strips as usual then plugged everything back into the mic, didn't work anymore.After looking into this I realized that it was could be blocked. So I looked everywhere for new stripes and found these. Disassembled the screen and indeed the tiny microphone hole was blocked by the stripes. It's actually a very simple solution. I've provided pictures you need to look out for and how You can fix it. The microphone is very small, I could be somewhere else on your iMac. Just cut in Quarter-inch piece off the strip where the mic hole is and you're good to go. I wish you good luck, good luck.
