Review on Rugged Ridge 18021.02 Heavy Duty Steering Box Brace for 1976-1986 Jeep CJ5/CJ7/CJ8 Scrambler by Durioki Cordaro

I got stuck in deep underwater gullies the other day and was having fun (being stupid); When turning left and right to get traction, the wheels hit the sides of the rut and bent the tie rod, and I noticed that the steering gear was a little loose. I have an H1 steering gear so I'm pretty sure the extra power didn't help me in terms of fitment and flex. So I put it back on and started looking for the braces I knew I should have put on a long time ago. from my store at the moment so I figured I'd just buy one and see how it goes. I bought a Revain Rugged Ridge block, I thought it looked like Chinese POS junk in the picture, but it was only $59. So I figured that would help for a while and the others didn't look much better. I got it, and while I wouldn't give it five stars, it's not that bad. Both the clamp that goes around the steering hub and the plate that attaches to the opposing guide frame are made of 1/4" steel, the tube is about 1" OD with a 1/8" wall, the weld isn't the best but it will do it went well with the H1 box and my YJ conversion brackets, it shares a bolt hole on the back with the passenger side bracket I wasn't sure how to do it the conversion brackets would work, but it was a good plate shaped to mount flat on the frame and below and on the inside of the strut mount. I had to carve a radius on the edge of the flattened end of the tube to allow the other end to face up could be rotated to fit the frame guide You must know that without these it will never fail to fit properly, but we're just talking an extra two minutes of work to get the clearance needed Something Si e should probably go to a JL store. The unit came with a small hardware package that included 7/16" nuts and fine thread bolts. I suspect they were meant to attach the plate to the frame on the passenger side. But those holes in the frame require 7/16 x 14 screws, which weren't included, so I think they screwed up. Assembly is easy except for the old rusty threaded holes in the frame. It would be nice if they saved you the trouble of going to the store to get the bolt. But other than that the block is heavier than expected and I'm happy with that, the steering is solid now!
