I have a car without a CD player but it has a USB and audio port. I can power it via USB so I don't have to have AA batteries on hand. Then I can listen through the audio jack. Fits easily in the center console where the USB and audio inputs are located. I listed the books on tape. The sound is not as good as my other car with a built in CD player, although the sound system is much better in a car without a CD player. But about what you'd expect from a portable device. For my purposes it works great. You can't control the player from the radio like I can with the iPod. So when I stop the car, I have to manually stop the CD, otherwise it just keeps playing. This is a pretty small price. Basically it solved the CD problem for a reasonable price hence my 5 stars. It's a bit more expensive than the car charger option, but USB is much cleaner and simpler, I went that route. I would buy again, no problem.
