The order came quickly. I put in some batteries (4 double A's. I plan on using rechargeable batteries), went into a dark room and turned them on. All the lights worked, they were nice and bright and I'm looking forward to hanging them up on the big trees outside for Christmas this winter. The time is not set automatically. Therefore, you have to turn it on with the remote control, but it turns off automatically. If you just find it awkward to press a button, maybe stand outside a minute for the remote to reach you, stop being cheap and spend more on lightbulbs that do everything automatically for you. I'm buying two more sets.
