Note. I'm a software engineer and I understand how computer hardware works. Not everyone will have the same experience as me! I read many reviews saying they couldn't get it to work or connect to ATT. Yes, Watch3 is pretty new and probably not everyone at ATT knows all about it. But I hope my review will help these people because I have found that Samsung watches with ATT are different from all other smartwatches. So I went to the ATT website and logged into my account. The first thing ATT told me when researching the watch was that the watch has its own phone number. So I knew I had to click the link to add a new phone number to my account. The next question was whether I would buy gear from ATT or bring my own. I opted for "bring along". Now it's time to be careful and read the instructions completely. It would be natural to fill out a form asking for the watch's IMEI number and SIM card number. The problem is that you don't have a SIM card number. If you're reading the instructions, a Samsung watch requires you to purchase an eSIM activation number, so you need to tell her you're adding a wearable device and click the link to get an eSIM card and add it to your cart . Depending on the special offers that day, you can get it for free or for a fee. After buying this card you have to wait for it to arrive. Or, like me, you can call support and ask for an eSIM number right away. When I called ATT they saw that I had ordered and paid for the card, so they got the card number and with my IMEI number they set their system to a new mobile number. You don't get an actual phone number as the watch will clone the cell phone number when it connects. The agent then sent me a photo of the QR code so I could scan it into the app upon request. I printed the photo out, or you can email it to your desktop to use from the screen. Now you should download and launch the wearable app from Samsung Store. The application turns on Bluetooth, sees the watch and connects it. You will then be prompted to scan a QR code or enter an activation code number. After that I had to go to the menu item "Mobile plans" and start the NumberSync function of your watch with the phone. Once you've done that, your watch should ONLY be connected to the cellular network if it can't connect to your cell phone via Bluetooth or the same Wi-Fi network that both are on at the same time. After that everything worked immediately. I had to act on permissions for every app I ran on the watch for the first time and sometimes on the phone. It can be annoying, but it's a necessary evil. Understand that text works whether you're connected to a phone or not, but email you can only read when you're connected to a phone. The same goes for several health apps and other things. But overall it was great. If your phone has Samsung Pay, it will sync with what's showing on your watch. There are practically a thousand different watch faces that you can get cheap or buy in stores. I've found that the ones you buy work better and have more settings than the free ones. There are navigation apps and even weather forecast radar maps that work great. I even downloaded an app called Places Nearby that tells me which businesses or government agencies are near me. Simply click, select the desired category and search. Once you've found what you're looking for, double-tap and a map will appear with directions and route options. For the most part I can leave my phone at home for most things I need to do if I don't have to worry about getting emails. But the main reason for buying this watch was that it has an SOS option where if I fall or press the home button three times, it will text my neighbors and family and also call 911 so I can can call emergency services. . I tested it with my son and hope to test it with 911 soon once I know the chances of accidentally setting off a false alarm are minimal.
