Review on 📹 SpyTec A119 V2 Car Dash Camera - 60 FPS / 1440p / GPS Logger Mount / G-Sensor / Wide Angle Lens / Low Light Recording by Robert Rasmussen

The DVR itself is excellent. 1440p 30fps is very crisp and you can see details like license plates very well even at night. 1080p 60fps is pretty smooth and I could even use this dash cam to record some scenic drives. I like the wedge design as it is very discreet, although it can get hotter than other mount designs as it sits directly against the windshield for optimal conductive heating. Ok, now for the bad. A few days after installation, the camera started turning off and on spontaneously. This continued as the frequency increased. I checked my PSU and everything was fine. Then I found the problem was with the GPS mount. The connection between the camera and mount is very unstable and behaves as if the mount cannot supply enough power to the camera until it turns off and on again. I was thinking about contacting SpyTec about this and then read some comments here detailing how useless they are, so I didn't want to waste time. I've now switched to a normal mount. THAT immediately after switching to a regular mount, the firmware had big problems, as if trying to annoy me. It had a few minor issues out of the box, but they weren't nasty. For example, after changing some settings in the menu, the camera sometimes reverts to the previous settings as soon as you exit the menu. I don't change the settings much, so it wasn't a big problem. But now it doesn't even record anymore, I can't get into the menu, not a single button works, the hard reset button doesn't do anything either. So I just flashed it with the Viofo firmware. Now it works fine. I know this is a budget DVR so don't expect too much, but these issues are pretty serious. This caused me some stress trying to get it to work. Considering how many positive 5 star reviews this product has, I wanted to let people know about some of the potential issues you might be encountering. I will try to get SpyTec to replace the GPS mount but if the problem is with the main DVR it might be difficult to get v2 when it comes out. It's still a good DVR. I hope this is the end of his problems and I can drive stress free.
