I have to agree with the reviewer who said that peeling potatoes with this peeler takes too long. The cap over the blade is designed to keep the chips from flying up, and it does just that. But instead they go undercover and slow things down. It is wide and obscures the view of the blade. I can peel potatoes quickly — thanks to all the potato peeling competitions my mom put on her kids — and I didn't like slowing down because I couldn't see exactly where the blade was going or where the skin was peeling. got under the knife cover. In addition, the sharp end for squeezing out the potato eyes is rounded, so to speak. It's sharp and works much better on my old peeler. I'll keep looking for an older style so I can peel faster.
