Review on Tupavco TP513 Antenna 2 4GHz 17DBi by Nathan Theriault

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great performance and value with a catch or two.

You won't find a better performing antenna in this price range, but if you want to use it, you have to pay attention to details. For example, you will need a high-quality, low-loss, high-gain RP-SMA (female center pin) plug to N-type plug adapter (not included) if you intend to connect it to a Wi-Fi adapter or router. I personally had to order two adapters before I got the right one. I also ordered a low-loss extension cord so it can be placed in the optimal spot. So the price for a proper setup was $35 for an antenna, $20 for a good quality extension cord, and another $20 for adapters. I could get away with only spending $10 on an adapter, but the first one I ordered had a center pin on the RP-SMA-SDE, making it useless for this application. All in all I invested almost 80€ in this antenna. Another thing to consider (and the main reason I'm rating this item 4 stars) is its size, it's actually quite a bulky item. Don't plan on using it to travel by plane, chances are you won't if you want to travel in comfort. If I had known all of this before deciding to buy, I would have spent more time exploring other options available. Don't get me wrong as I said in the beginning this antenna works very well and I am very happy with the difference in my Wi-Fi connection speed now that everything is set up and working properly.
