Balancing in Ceiling Fans

I was disappointed to find wobble after installing this fan. This will be my third fan, the first two were from a different brand which I returned due to noise/jiggling that couldn't be fixed with a balance kit. I noticed that both models use the same balance kits. While I've never been able to balance any other model, adding weight has greatly reduced this wobble. In all three cases I noticed that without the blades attached, the vibration was there, as if something was happening to the motors. This one has a small gap in the engine case which may indicate a manufacturing issue. I might end up changing it, but I'm pretty tired of installing the same ceiling fan. The engine is also very compact (the other one, the Westinghouse, was about the size of a couple of pancakes, pretty neat) and replaces what needs to be more than twice the size. Perhaps its huge mass masked the imbalance? In any case, with only 3 blades instead of 5, this new fan actually makes more wind noise than the fan it replaced. And wobbly. I got it because I thought it would be nice to be able to direct the light where you want it and make it look nice and modern. It lets through a decent amount of air on medium settings. In general I am satisfied with this model, but not specifically with this device.
