Bought both the Winix Purifier and Honeywell 300 a little over a year ago. After much research I purposely bought both at the same time (I need several) to compare them over time. Both received relatively high ratings online. So a year later, replacing the HEPA filters in both units, I can definitely say I prefer the Honeywell 300. Its filters are ultimately cheaper and, in my opinion, more efficient. I plan to buy a third air purifier soon and it will definitely be a Honeywell 300. Winix filters are more expensive and don't allow me to change their pre-filter as often as needed. (I have a dog that sheds a lot of hair, which requires frequent pre-cleaning and filter changes). The supposed advantage of the Winix "washable pre-filter" is false economy - after weeks of observation and side-by-side comparison, the Honeywell pre-filter has accumulated far more "gaps" than the Winix cartridge. That means the Winix filter was less efficient, less efficient, or both. I'd rather change a cheap pre-filter more often than an expensive universal cartridge once a year.
