installed this on my boat with the new 48 inch antenna. The first time I walked out I called radio check and came in loud and clear. It has a scan function, not like old radios where you press scan mode and when someone is talking it stops on that channel. In this case you have to program the channels you want to scan by just typing to go to that station and press and hold scan until you hear a beep, just like programming your car radio. The company sent it quickly and free of charge, in fact it arrived earlier than expected. I gave 4 starts because for some reason the 3rd time I got the boat out there is now a popping noise. Not sure what causes this disease. Check my ground wires Otherwise it's good value for money.
