Review on Dritz 270 Hummingbird Needle Threader: Enhance Your Needlework with Efficient Threading by Amy Mcleod

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Requires a great deal of skill and practice, but is suitable for standard carving.

It's nice, but it's more advertising than functionality. The groove into which the thread is inserted is very microscopic. So if you get that because it's hard to see how to thread a needle, pinch me, it's a lot harder to see that groove; Using your touch to feel and find the groove is the only sense you can use when doing this. Then, because of that awful groove, as soon as you try to get the needle through the thread, you encounter a second obstacle. Hold the thread in the groove while the needle goes through. Pull the thread down with two fingers, hold it in the groove with the other and find another free finger with the strength to slide the needle over the thread, hanging on this 1 inch all the time little bird. This takes practice but can be done with light thread. If you have chunky yarn, waxed yarn, or something chunky/double, forget it; this will not work. I'm an upholsterer and this thread isn't working!

Pros
  • good stuff
Cons
  • some bugs
