Review on Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice Arctic 195/60 R15 88T winter by Adam Borkoski ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

It works, but I don't think I'll be buying it again.

Very inconsistent tyres. On the one hand, there are no significant complaints about the tires either in terms of quality or grip characteristics (both on ice and snow, and on dry and wet asphalt), on the other hand, the noise interrupts all the advantages. Drove about 10,000 kilometers on these tires. I didn’t have hernias, holes, I lost 4 spikes during the winter (this is generally on all 4 tires when driving mainly on bare asphalt). Since the winter in St. Petersburg was mild and there was almost no snow, there were not so many opportunities for tires to show their best, but the disadvantage was fully manifested. If the winter had been cold and snowy, the review might have been different. My opinion - these tires are for real winter, more suitable for the countryside than for the city.

Pros
  • Predictable, confident behavior in winter conditions, especially on snow. Quite satisfactory behavior on wet and dry pavement.
Cons
  • Very noisy - humming like a helicopter. If in real winter conditions it is still tolerable, then when driving on bare asphalt, the sound is unbearable. I knew about this shortcoming, but according to many reviews, the sound disappears after about 1000 kilometers. My noise did not disappear, despite the fact that the tires were run in after the purchase in a calm atmosphere. No other significant shortcomings were noticed.
