Review on πŸ”₯ Acetylene Little Torch Kit: 5 Tips Included in a Box by Hector Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I remember clearly

Excellent flashlight. I used it extensively in my graduate lab welding platinum thermocouples 20 years ago and it looks like it still has the same simple and practical design. Just got around to getting one for sheet metal work. I have found that sheet metal is more difficult to weld than mild steel. I need a little more practice not to burn holes all over the place but the cutter itself is wonderful - light weight, easy to use, flexible hoses, well made and just as easy to set up and tune as my full size Miller O/. . Burners that I have been using on the above designs for about 15 years. Features standard left and right 9/16-18 "B" fittings that easily bolt onto most gas regulators sold in the US. with 5 springs numbered 3-7 and 8 feet of hose but the description in the product description section is wrong where it says you will get 2-6 springs and a 6 inch hose. It's not 6 inches. Or 6 feet. It's also worth noting that tip #3 is very thin, while tip #4 generates a lot of heat in comparison. It's a big leap between them. It occurred to me that a #3.5 point for 22 gauge steel would be useful after burning a hundredth hole in my training material. I do not see this as a minus, since the degree of incompetence of the operator plays a role here. In the good category: 5/32" wrench for changing nozzles and adjusting gland nuts. Suggested accessories: Magnetic torch stand. As well as backfire safeguards on the side of the regulator. And maintaining pressure in the line to prevent backfire, there as well as anyone else Burner What else oh I checked for acetylene leaks around the fittings along the hoses and around the valves and nozzle (just put your finger on the end and open the valve) found nothing and I used Leakator Jr .which is very sensitive. However I can't test the oxygen side that way so I used plain old leak detection fluid.

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • I don't remember
