This kettle works very well and stands nicely on the counter. The only thing I noticed is that the very light base unit only has a small slot for threading the power cord and the cord is very stiff. Therefore, when you pick up the kettle, the cord lifts the base unit slightly, and when you lower the kettle back down, the cord comes out of a small slot. This makes the base unit a bit unstable, since the cable does not come out through a small slot but under the unit. You have to plug the cord into the socket each time the kettle is returned to its place. The weight of the kettle then holds it in place. I'm hoping this will work itself out over time as the cable fits better in the slot, but this is very annoying and appears to be a design flaw.
