These discs look like the Verbatim 4.7GB white inkjet DVD-R and DVD+R discs that I have used for many years. These 8.5GB drives are good, if a bit pricey in comparison. Of course, the 20Pk spindle is a very good deal compared to most DL drives on the market. The quality is excellent and I haven't had a single wrong recording or scrap in this bundle of 3 different DVD recorders. I use the Epson Stylus Photo RX680 All-in-One to print to it in photo quality every time. Footage I capture when the video is 60 minutes or longer. The extra capacity of these discs allows me to use the highest possible bit rate to play DVDs with over 2 hours of video. When using standard 4.7GB discs, long clips must be recorded at a lower bitrate. IMHO I wouldn't spend extra money on DL drives for backup tasks. 4.7GB drives cost a lot less per gigabyte. I would give the product 5 stars but I have a suspicion that all DL discs are intentionally marked to prevent piracy of commercial DVDs which are mostly released in DL format. 4 stars are a judgment due to the inflated prices. For a direct comparison with other DL media, this rating should be given 5 stars. Verbatim is in a class of its own when it comes to blank media.
