Review on Theater Solutions TSS6A Deluxe ๐ŸŽญ Home Theater 6.5" Angled In-Ceiling Speaker by Alicia Moore

Great in ceiling speaker with the benefits of being built into the wall

Reason I took the risk of buying this speaker: I installed a 7.1 speaker in a 12x13 room. Due to the size of the room, I wanted to use the built-in speakers to free up as much floor space as possible. Also, we wanted to leave the back wall open for artwork etc. but someone told me that for better sound quality it would be best to use the entire wall at ear level instead of the ceiling. I've seen this corner speaker and read that people use it for a front stage when it's not practical in a wall. I then decided to try them out for the "back surround" speakers as the corner design is intended to mimic an in-wall design. The results were excellent. This speaker (like all others from Theater Solutions by this manufacturer) has performed well in both home theater and cinema. Lots of detail and clarity, great power management and most importantly, with an 8 inch woofer, the bass response is very good for 60-80Hz music. This range covers the "slapping bass" of the guitar in funk music. I've had friends complain about the low frequency response, so I'm glad to find that's not the case here. As the base response is good in that range, it gives you some flexibility to cross your speakers a little lower than others Inwall/ Ijceilings. Of course, you'll need a subwoofer to deal with frequencies below 60Hz (although they drop down to 40Hz). I think this is a great buy for the money. I would recommend this to others looking for form quality on a budget. The angular design and the good basic response are the highlights.
