I added 1 teaspoon of pearls to the water and after 5 hours the vase was full of beads It definitely doesn't take 3 cups of water (I'm guessing you might only need 1 1/2 cups of water) to grow the beads, but the beads stayed intact when I poured them into a colander to drain the water It doesn't matter if you add too much water to the beads, but when I tried to put the beads back in the vase after straining, I struggled to keep them from splashing all over the place because they are so light and springy This product 5 stars because I had no issues with the product and it met my expectations.
