Keeps bugs and dust out . mostly

I've used my paint tent for a couple of months now for two projects that consumed several gals of paint. It works okay but has a few shortcomings that I wish the manufacturer had addressed. My version is the model without the floor. I found this worked much better since I could easily move the tent around the item being painted and just used a tarp for the flooring. This would not be possible with a tent using a fixed floor.Firstly, the front and back have no way to secure the bottom to keep the material from 'caving in' on larger items being painted. I had to rig up a 2x4 in the back and used the loop on the tent material to secure it to the 2x4 on the ground. The front door/fly material has the same problem but there I used a heavy piece of pipe and used hook & loop strips to secure the bottom of the tent material to the pipe on the ground . That required me to cut slits into the tent material which of course have ripped out now. It was a real pain because each time I wanted to open the door/fly I had to undo all the hook & loop strips. Unfortunately there was no other easy way to keep the bottom of the front door/fly from 'caving in' onto the items being painted. So . if you buy this tent and have larger items to paint, be prepared to rig up something to address this.Secondly, the hook & loop fasteners on the front fly are a joke. They are too small and more often than not pop open. This is a constant source of irritation when one needs the front to stay closed to keep bugs and such out. It would have been much more secure had they used slightly larger hook & loop strips.Still, even with these issues, the tent was worth the money as it has mostly worked as I needed it to and that was to keep bugs and trash out of the paint. However, I think my next one will be another brand hoping the front and back flaps have better ways to secure them so they aren't so loose and 'cave in' onto the items being painted.

Pros
  • Reduces the risk of accidents and spills
Cons
  • May require additional safety precautions
