Not pure white but slightly whitish. I bought this and a smaller version (6-cup flavor that's perfect for two); the colors are exactly different, the smaller one is pure white. when it matters. But because of the performance I don't care. I bought these two to make sushi rice for a dinner party I was having. Both played great. I just decided to try something in it. Rice-a-roni. I used the saute/simmer function to sauté it according to the package directions - it takes longer than a skillet but no burnt rice because I left. Then add spices and water, set the white rice function, put the lid on and go. Had a nice hot cozy shower and returned to perfect rice with no mess. Like most of you looking at this rice cooker, I've given up my old aluminum pot for health reasons. I then bought one in the Asian market for $200 but found it impossible to clean. After that I cooked the rice in my instant pot with steel inner pot. But it was such a chore - too much time wasted cooking and cleaning - that I just didn't cook rice that often. Well, with these two I see myself doing it quite often due to the ease of use and cleanup. Having grown up in a household where only fine rice was served, until recently I didn't know that rice had to be washed. I know - wow! After reading the reviews on rice washing bowls, I saw some that said rice should be washed right in the slow cooker bowl. Amazingly, the rice stays together and doesn't run off with the water. Washing helps keep suds down, thus minimizing steam release through the orifice. In addition, stainless steel is similar to cast iron: when you cook with it, the metal's molecules expand and absorb cooking oil, then become smoother with use. I use coconut oil to coat my stainless steel pans before cooking and yes it does fog up the rice rinse water. But no sticking, no discoloration! One more thing, when measuring rice, don't use the standard 1 cup from the drawer. The "rice cup" that comes with all rice cookers is actually a 3/4 US cup. This may be why reviewers have issues with burn-in and sticking. Finally, both stoves have nice closed-bottom pots, like really good cookware. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to have some great rice-a-roni!
