I've had this steamer for half a year now. The more I use it the more I hate it because it releases steam from the rice through the hole in the lid. Everything around it is covered with a thin layer of wet rice water, which hardens and turns into a sticky layer of rice. I constantly wipe floors, walls and counters after each use. I received a replacement for the first rice cooker. I've had no success with brown rice. A second rice cooker and the help of Aroma customer service resulted in excellent brown rice. Turns out it takes at least 1-1/1 cups of rice plus 3 cups of water to succeed. Select the brown rice option and it took over 1 hour for the rice to start cooking and reached the cooked rice in about 1-1/5-2 hours for a full brown rice cycle.
