Essential for your 4" dust collector! I use regular 4" PVC pipe to which I also ran thin wires and grounded all the blast suppressors which are grounded to a copper water line to avoid shock (works well) This Powertec blast gate works well and is very easy to install and open and close the gate I have a HF 1500 CFM dust collection system and it has been an important part in splitting ports running between my miter saw, Switched table saw, pocket drill (Porter-Cable) and the floor dust collection I made. and came out smooth and there were no problems. There is a port on each side to attach the dust hose and just clamp it with a metal clamp. If I remember correctly remember, you can clamp a 3.5 inch PVC (or maybe a 3 inch PVC) and I drilled a few holes in the PVC to accommodate the at to drill the mounting screws that hold the tube in place. Just to get better suction with low leakage, I put 100% silicone around the edges where I can hear air being sucked in when the opening is closed. Great blast gates compared to cheap plastic gates! Metal is the best choice for frequent use!
