Keeping my cats isolated while we had people redoing the floor seemed like a good idea. Well, anyway, after installation (about 10 minutes) the cats certainly didn't want anything to do with loud noises (the gate was "just in case"). The height of the gate is fine (although I later learned that a house cat could jump over it if motivated), but the locking mechanism on this one is a little fiddly if not downright frustrating, sort of "push here, pull here, then press here on the right corner and then lock in the next groove at max extension, it ended up being ok (if you don't mind wasting 10 minutes every time you move it, doesn't work well with some ledges either , as the bottom of the gate needs to be flush with the wall), but in the future I would opt for a more traditional baby gate (or just lock the cats in a room with food, water and an excuse, oh cat lords!
