I used to have a Swann security system and four cameras that worked fine, but they were old (low res) camcorders. My main motivation for purchasing another Swann system was that I could reuse existing cables. Swann uses two cables for each camera - a BNC/Coax signal cable and a second power cable. That was extremely important. Drilling holes and running wires throughout the home accounts for about 95% of the work involved in installing one of these systems. The presence of cables saved a lot of time. Once I connected all the cameras, the video quality was just great (4K). The app for your phone (iPhone or Android) is a big improvement over the old app. Easily view live cameras or play back any video recorded as a result of motion detection. Motion detection is great, you can block custom areas in each camera that you don't want to trigger when motion is detected. You can also set up Intrusion Detection Zones and Privacy Zones (mainly for indoor cameras). There is also a feature to upload videos to your Dropbox account. Overall I would highly recommend this system especially if you are looking to upgrade your old Swann system.
