Review on 🔧 Keller Dovetail System 135-1500: The Ultimate Journeyman Dovetail Jig by Joe Fulce

Revainrating 5 out of 5

This is a really great jig. As long as you follow the setup.

This is a really great accessory. If you follow the thankfully simple setup and use instructions, you should see great results. All the seams I cut with this machine fit perfectly and the only mistakes were due to my lack of router technique. My only advice is when I first started using it I had no problem getting nice clean tails but I often had to rip out the pins on the edges of the board. I have found that putting notches on each end near where the pen's cutting depth ends will solve the tearing problem. I use a bandsaw for this - meaning you do it so that the cutter only cuts a small portion of the board at the end pins and not the entire mass of material. This gives the cutter much less chewing effort and greatly reduces the chance of it ripping chips out of the finished workpiece when you cut the end pins. It's a little hard to explain in words alone, but if you're using this and having trouble, hopefully it's clear.

Pros
  • Impressive
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others
