What you need to know BEFORE you buy this APU

I bought this APU for a rebuild with an Asrock B350M Pro4 motherboard, Thermaltake 600W PSU and 8GB ADATA DDR4 RAM. I am new to Ryzen processors and have mainly based myself on descriptions on the net. My experience is unique and I won't say yours will be the same. I installed the processor, included heatsink and fan, and used Artic Silver thermal paste for assembly. My plan was the same as mine with 20 different types of AMD processors, booting the base OS (Windows 7) and upgrading to Windows 10. Always works fine, don't worry right? When I tried to install Windows 7 I kept getting an API error and after some searching I found that the Ryzen 3 2200G processor only worked on Windows 10 64-bit (This is an asterisk on the AMD support site, but , oddly enough, not in any of the online reviews). So I figured I would be smart and try using Windows 8.1 as the base OS and upgrade to Win 10. Not using Windows 7 got rid of the API error, but now I'm getting a random watchdog error that causes the system to quiesce. crash and reboot. I will not buy a $200 Windows 10 Pro just to use a $100 CPU. It's been 4 days of disappointment that I hope you can avoid. If you don't use the poor man's path to install Windows 10 on your system, you might not encounter these problems. Keep in mind that the watchdog error could be due to bad RAM (I ran memtest on existing RAM for 12 hours with no errors) or a bad CPU. Anyway, I have too much residual magic left to want to keep the chip.
