The good news is that it holds up very well. The description doesn't really say how it works. The bat wings detach and pop out with a push of a button on the left side, you put your phone in and clamp them and they snap and the foam lining holds up really well. The rubber band is an additional insurance. In addition, the two legs can be adjusted narrower or wider at the bottom. I don't understand how one of the most popular reviews says the phone came off on the first hit. I didn't expect how far it would fly. I was going to mount it on the handlebars but it sticks out too much so I decided to mount it on a stem instead. It doesn't stay straight and eventually rotates to the lower limit of the hinge range, which is fine with me. I would have really preferred not to have a large swivel, just a rod mount that connects directly to the phone mount. Overall this is a decent product and I'm sure it will hold up my phone. Very nice to drive to the music.
