Review on πŸ”§ 10.4 Inches Swing-A-Way Easy Crank Can Opener - Black, Efficient & User-Friendly by Danny Poulin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great can opener for people with wrist/hand strength issues.

The Easy-Crank Folder is the answer we've been looking for for the can opener. My wife has a wrist injury and finds it difficult to twist the handle of a standard can opener. We've tried Zyliss side cutters, which cut the side of the can instead of the lid, but they seem to cut unevenly and quickly become dull and difficult to use. We had one of the "Made in the USA" that was "Used by Astronauts" that lasted almost 20 years and decided to give it a try. He cuts! It opens the cans and the crank and rotating crank makes it easier for my wife to use as it feels more like gross motor movement than wrist rotation. Larger cans that I need to open for my home brew are no problem; You previously challenged the Zyliss guy. The foldable pen grip ensures that it doesn't take up extra space in your gadget drawer. The only downside is that the jars have to be opened from the right edge of the counter to give the handle enough room to rotate, otherwise it will hit the counter with shorter jars like soup or tomato paste. Even though it's made in China, not the US. like the old Swing-A-Ways. The overall craftsmanship, weight, metal finish and attention to design detail puts it head and shoulders above the standard capped can opener found in Chinese grocery stores. It's good enough that I'd happily pay $4-5 MORE for it if it was made in the USA. I reckon a lifespan of 10 years for home use.

Pros
  • RUGGED ALL-STEEL CONSTRUCTION: You can count on this can opener to easily open the tough lid. The body is made of extremely durable steel.
Cons
  • It's not as good as it says it is
