Review on πŸ’» Enhanced VGA USB Compact KVM Switch - IOGEAR GCS632U 2 Port by Scott Reeves

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fast and easy-to-use KVM switch with convenient hotkey function

After trying many KVM switches from different manufacturers, I decided for this switch for daily use. The GCS632U is the fastest KVM switch when it comes to detecting my keyboard and mouse. Other switches I've tried add a 2-3 second delay after toggling before KB/M is ready to use, while this switch is almost instantaneous. My favorite feature of the GCS632U is the port selection via hotkeys. Instead of pressing a physical button to switch ports, you can simply press the scroll button twice to switch ports (you can also program CTRL as a hotkey). Since I'm using a keyboard without ten keys, my hotkey is set to CTRL and it works fine every time. Selecting a port with a hotkey is much more convenient than pressing a physical button because your hands should never leave the keyboard. Many users have reported that this switch is not compatible with a number of wireless keyboards and mice, but I cannot confirm this as I use a wired keyboard and mouse. The only thing that can improve this KVM switch is the customizable hotkeys for port selection. Double-clicking CTRL is fine, but I wouldn't mind assigning a button on my function bar just to select a port. If you are looking for a KVM switch that offers fast hotkey port selection, then this is the product for you.
