I am very impressed with the Sony NEX-5N. Shooting is also excellent out of the box and I think the added weight compared to the smaller tip and shooting is well worth it. When it comes to cameras, I'm just a casual consumer, definitely not a professional photographer. I've had a lot of small digital cameras, but they've always been a bit disappointing. I wanted to upgrade to a DSLR but didn't want to lug around a heavy, bulky camera. I was hesitant about the NEX-5N as the lens makes it larger than my other cameras, but I wanted better shots so I gave it a try. I am very happy with the results. It's heavy and quite heavy (considering the lens), but it's much more comfortable to handle than a regular DSLR. The pictures are just amazing. I don't like to use flash, and even pictures taken in the dark turn out fine. The camera often chooses a higher ISO than I want, but once I set up the shortcuts, it became easier for me to switch between ISOs. (Note: I want to give the camera a range of acceptable ISOs, rather than just picking one ISO.) Images taken at high ISOs are acceptable. I prefer to use low ISOs if I can get away with it. In general, I am simply amazed at the level of detail in the pictures. The camera seems to capture everything undistorted. I don't miss the big zoom (in my point and shoot mode for example) as I can crop the NEX-5N's footage with the same effect as the big zoom in point and shoot mode. for snapshots. It gives me great pleasure to take a picture behind the scenes. The camera spends almost no time processing each shot. In addition, the NEX-5N is equipped with many fun features. I just recently discovered that there is a "smile mode" where the camera takes a picture when it sees someone smiling. I'm not sure how handy settings like "Smile" mode are, but they're fun to use, especially since the mode actually works. I'm still learning all the settings and having a good time. I highly recommend the Sony NEX-5N. It won't fit in your pocket, but you don't have to carry it in a huge bag. This is the best camera I've ever had.
